Over 5 years ago a single Tawny cask that was filled with new make spirit that was made with Baird’s Malted barley from Scotland. Baird’s Malt supply to Diageo, the same company that own brands like Talisker, Brora, Lagavulin and Caol Ila.
With that peated malt Chris created his new make spirit and filled it into a single 100ltr SA cooperage tawny port cask and left it to fully mature for over 5 years.
What we found after 5 years of ageing was an incredible multi-layered single malt whisky that starts out super fruity with cranberries, caramelised sugars and fortified fruits coming through on the nose with a peat waft striking through.
The palate develops an amazing thick and rich smoked meats and Szechwan pepper mouthfeel with sweetness of a cranberry basting coming through at the end.
This special release has been bottled at 47% and we only got 160 bottles.
